Did you know….?

If you are age 65 and older, a widow or widower age 50 and older, or a person with disabilities age 18 and older, you may be eligible for the PA Property Tax / Rent Rebate Program. This program is offered by the PA Dept. of Revenue and it is based on income.  The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 a year for renters (Personal Care Home residents are considered renters). Only 1/2 of Social Security and Railroad Tier 1 benefits are counted as income.

The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975.

The PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is one of five programs supported by the PA Lottery. Since the program’s 1971 inception, older adults and adults with disabilities have received $4.8 Billion in property tax and rent rebates. This rebate program also receives funding from slots gaming.

You can receive a property tax or rent rebate only on the primary residence you occupied during the period for which you are claiming a rebate. If you own a residence, you must have paid your property taxes prior to filing for a rebate. Renters need to make certain their landlords paid the property taxes on the rental property.

If you or someone you know might qualify for a rebate, you will need to fill out an application form as soon as possible. The deadline is June 30th. Forms may be found at local libraries, online, and at local Area Agencies on Aging or by clicking on the following link: .

At Ark Twin Valley Personal Care Home, we assist all of our residents to see if they qualify for this program and to fill out the forms. If you have any questions, please call us.  Click on any of the links to get to our profile or our website for our phone number.
